What to pack for day Camp

Packing for day camp versus Summer camp is no less important. There are items a camper needs for a day camp that will make or break a great experience if forgotten. The most logical way to pack for day camp is to have a very durable book bag, and designate it for day camp items […]

Are you Ready for Summer Camp?

Are you ready for Summer Camp? As the anticipation of a parent grows when summer camp approaches, so does that of the children that are leaving as well. It is an exciting time for everyone. So long as nothing is left behind. So, how do you ensure that the much anticipated overnight camp experience is not ‘rained out’ by a forgotten item or two? You follow a list! Here are  a few ‘must haves’ when the time to pack for Summer camp is NOW! ●Medicine: First and foremost, if your little camper is on any medication prescribed by their pediatrician; ensure it is in the prescription packaging and that the camp leaders are aware. This is going to include any medication that your camper takes on a regular basis. So make certain if they take any supplements; those are included too. ●Shoes: Having different types of footwear is crucial, especially if your camper is going to an overnight camp. You will want to consider older tennis shoes as buying new ones will not be such a great idea for muddy or dirty conditions. Sandals are a great option if there will be walks through or near creeks or rivers. Slippers, are for use in a cabin when shoes are not mandatory. ●Bedding: Specific bedding may vary depending on what type of Summer camp your little ones are going to attend. So, you may want to check prior to packing. Yet, generally, a good pillow and case are needed. Also, a good fitted sheet, generally a twin size, is needed as well. Neither of these items is usually provided by the camp and even if they are it is better to bring ones that are familiar to add more security and to ease loneliness. ●Towels: This seems like a pretty basic idea; bring a towel to an overnight camp. However, your camper will need two, possibly three, towels. This is simply so one can be used, while the other is drying. Or they can choose to use another for bathing or showering, while the latter is for swimming. Either way, you look at it; they need more than just one! Summer camp can be a lifelong memory for your children. Packing necessities is wholeheartedly left to parents as the kids will not think of these items as necessities. They just want some clothes, a towel, and a bag to toss it all in! This is where it can be made into a fun family affair; pack together. This way if they ask why they need this or that; you can explain it to them. It helps communication and eases stressors; both of which can be helpful when camp time approaches.

More Americans are watching eSports than all traditional pro sports other than the NFL. Your children already love gaming and it has little to do with the possibility of […]
